Cillian Quigley Burns
Director and Writer
Coming from a background of over 10 years of acting, I have always been extremely interested in filmmaking. I was awarded an ‘A’ in the NYU Student Dramatic Writing Programme, as well as have acted on stage for multiple independent and school productions. I also have an up-and-coming production company called ‘Golden Hour Productions’, on YouTube, with short films that I write, direct and produce to practice my understanding in the film industry.
For my HNC in 2023, I wrote and directed a short film called ‘The Lament of Ferdiad’. It followed the mythological battle between Cú Chulainn and his brother Ferdiad. It won the Alumni’s Choice award and is my favourite project I worked on.

Pictured here was the process of filming the ending. We filmed the whole production in one day and shot in reverse order; the ending first, and the ending last. The actors really gave their all for the shoot having to withstand freezing temperatures in the water, but we provided hot water bottles and a buffet of food.
